Brick Calculator
Find how many bricks and bags of mortar your wall needs from its size and brick type.
Results are estimates for planning. Brick coverage depends on the exact brick and joint size. Confirm the brick dimensions with your supplier for large orders.
How to Measure for Bricks
Bricks are estimated from the wall's face area and the size of brick you choose.
Wall area
Measure the wall length and height in feet, or enter the total face area directly. For walls with openings, subtract the door and window areas first.
Brick size
Pick your brick type. A standard modular brick covers about 6.9 per square foot with a 3/8 inch joint; larger bricks cover fewer.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- No waste allowance. Cuts at corners and openings, plus breakage, mean you need 5-10% more than the bare wall area.
- Wrong brick size. Modular, standard, and jumbo bricks cover very different amounts — confirm before ordering.
- Forgetting mortar. Bricks alone aren't the whole job; budget the mortar bags too.
- No spares. Keep a handful of matching bricks — colors vary between batches and matching later is hard.
